"Come Away With Me" is a romantic, classically inspired, love ballad wrapped in ethereal, spellbinding music. The song starts with counterpoint on piano and strings. The piano plays shorter chords, a bit staccato, while the strings play longer, legato lines. A deep bass line supports the orchestration. The overall sound is similar to an awakening filled with musical elements that seep in like the morning sunlight and drench the heart.
Against the song's intensity, Pauline enters singing the first verse, "While you still are sleeping, I can view the future. In your slumber, see you smile. Deep in dreams, you’re safe beside me. Breathing in the cool night air. Caring. Loving." Pauline's voice is truly captivating as she commences the story of walking up next to her soulmate. Sophisticated in every way, she has a wonderful sense of rubato and rhythm, pushing gently through her phrasing and tapering off in all the right places. Her expressive control is admirable. In singing the story, Pauline brings a polished articulation that showcases her classical training. Her vocal tone has a colorful palette that at times is soft like a whisper and at other times, round and full.
By the second verse a delicate guitar arpeggio arrives along with some engaging word paining. As Pauline sings, "Hear the wind sing a haunting melody. Feel my heart beat as you turn to me," the music paints the poetic lyrics singing like a haunted melody and the percussion beats like a heartbeat. Although the songs is about waking up next to the one you love, there is a fair amount tension which keeps your ears locked in. The harmonies are rich and take surprising turns to express the haunting quality and complexity of being deeply in love.
"Come Away With Me" is a beautiful love song that captures the essence of being with your one true love. The arrangement and performance is stunning. As the dawn breaks, love is captured in a single moment, before the sun rises, and in that moment, the future is illuminated - the song's music contains all this, and more.

Pauline Frechette (aka Raven Kane) is a composer/performer with a foundation of playing in youth symphonies on violin, winning awards in piano competitions, touring Europe singing and dancing as a teen and studying acting in England. Her Great-grandfather, Josef Vezina, founded the Quebec Symphony.
Her compositions are best defined as “Neo-classical” DEF. “The use of modern techniques within the classical form composing music that reflects one’s own compositional voice.” Her compositions have been performed by the Baltimore Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, New West Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, National Symphony at the Kennedy Center and at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

As a singer/performer, she considers herself a 21st Century “troubadour” DEF. “a contemporary poet-musician.” Her credits include singing on major motion pictures (Aladdin, Rent, Mermaids …).
She has performed/recorded with many legendary artists including MUSE for the 2012 Olympics; Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, Leonard Cohen, Cher, and duets with Neil Diamond.
In her solo concerts Pauline moves effortlessly from her neo-classical piano pieces to romantic jazz and humorous theatrical songs. She loves taking her audience on an emotional journey with humor, passionate haunting melodies and stunning vocals, often playing a concert grand live to videos of ballet, jazz, art and other forms of storytelling. At her Thayer Hall concert in downtown L.A., Pauline brought her cheering audience to their feet for nine standing ovations.
